GCAE launches their 1st
Spring has sprung and the birds and bees are humming in the trees! And it’s… TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK (TAW)… all over the land! It can’t really get any better than that, can it? Oh yes, it can… In honor of TAW, the Gwinnett County Association of Educators (GCAE) is offering their 1st ever scholarship ($500) Award – The Gwinnett County Association of Educators’ “Learning Scholarship”, to a deserving 2017 graduating senior – who has been accepted and will enter into a College or an institution of higher learning, for Fall, 2017.
To qualify, the Parent/Guardian of the student has to be an active, dues paying GCAE member, during the GCAE program years of 2016-17 and 2017-18. The student /applicant will need to submit the application, and a (2) page typed essay on “how education serves as a key that can open future doors of opportunity”. As well, the applicant will need to submit (3) professional or teacher references that assess their academic/ professional abilities, identifies how long they have known the student and what the references view as being the most outstanding feature of the student ( i.e. volunteerism, leadership, etc.) Also, the applicant will need to provide a copy of their current transcript and GPA.
The “The Gwinnett County Learning Scholarship” application will be made available to GCAE members on May 15, 2017, via email. So keep checking for its arrival. The deadline date to submit the application and all supporting documentation will be June 30, 2017 – 5:00 P.M. Thus, ALL mailed entries need to be post marked and received by the deadline date and by 5:00 P.M., on June 30, 2017. The mailing address to submit all applications is: P.O.
